In a major announcement for golf fans, Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will be returning to the Hero Dubai Desert Classic from January 22-25, 2026. This comes after a historic year for McIlroy, who completed the career Grand Slam at Augusta National. His return to the Emirates Golf Club will mark his 20th year since his first appearance as an amateur in 2006.
Chasing a Record-Breaking Fifth Title
McIlroy, who has already won the tournament four times, will be chasing a record fifth Dallah Trophy. His previous wins were in 2009, 2015, 2023, and a dramatic comeback victory in 2024. The 2026 event promises to offer new additions and exciting experiences for fans, strengthening its status as a premier occasion on the UAE’s sporting and social calendar. According to tournament director Simon Corkill, McIlroy’s participation as a Masters Champion reinforces the prestige of the event.
